Potential clients often ask us tough, important questions. We welcome them. Here is our philosophy on the issues that matter most.
We do not believe in “drive-by” projects. Our impact is built on long-term partnerships with local, community-led organizations. We listen first. Our partners identify their own needs, and we provide support for their goals.
When you ask us “who is your partner?” we won’t give you a vague answer. We will tell you their name, their mission, and the history of our relationship with them. This is the foundation of respectful, sustainable travel.
This is the most critical part of “voluntourism.” We are adamant that our clients do not displace local workers. You will not be building a house if you are not a builder, or teaching a class if you are not a teacher. Doing so takes jobs from local professionals.
Instead, your role is to support and work alongside local experts, learn from them, and contribute in a way that is respectful. For any project involving vulnerable populations, we require mandatory background checks. Your safety and the community’s safety are non-negotiable.
We have a formal, public-facing Child Protection Policy. We do not support or arrange visits to orphanages or residential care facilities. While often well-intentioned, these visits can disrupt children’s lives and create harmful attachment issues, and in the worst cases, can even fuel the exploitation of children.
Our work focuses on supporting families and communities to keep children safe and thriving in their own homes.
We are committed to financial transparency. When you book an impact journey with us, we provide a clear breakdown of your program fees. You deserve to know how much is going directly to the community projects, how much covers the travel components (lodging, guides, transport), and what our administrative fee is.
We move beyond vague statements. We partner with our local organizations to track specific, meaningful metrics. Instead of just saying “we helped a school,” we aim to show, for example, “our support for the ‘ABC Foundation’ contributed to a 30% increase in girls’ enrollment over the past five years.” We focus on long-term, measurable, community-defined success.
